TEENS RUN WESTCHESTER - OUR TEAM
Michael joined Teens Run Westchester (TRW) in the winter of 2015. He wanted to give back to the community he has grown very fond of since he moved to the Westchester area, so when the opportunity presented itself through his employer, he applied to be a part of TRW. He wanted to join TRW, specifically, because he believes training for a race and mentoring can positively impact our youth. He also believes improving the lives of our youth is crucial to building a better community. He lives quite an active lifestyle. One way he stays active is by committing himself to completing two leisurely races each year; whether it is a bike tour, obstacle course race, or some other race that will require some level of preparation. He also plans to complete a half marathon or two in the coming years. Michael currently works as a credit analyst at Peoples United Business Capital to continue his professional endeavors. Outside of his professional life, community service and active-life, he loves traveling and music.
Robert GrabeI is the founder of Teens Run Westchester. He was drawn to running due to the goal-setting, discipline and training required to complete a race and has completed 14 marathons, 24 half marathons and a bunch of others - most upright (vs. crawling). The inspiration for Teens Run came when he ran in the Philadelphia Marathon in 2008 and saw the impact of Students Run Philly Style, a model program that engages thousands of teens in the Philadelphia area. Robert works with the National Psoriasis Foundation where he’s helped launch its charity Cycling and Endurance program. He also loves playing the guitar and bass, attempting to sing, progressive rock (like Yes), ventriloquism and of course, his wife, daughter, dogs and the rest of his family. His favorite race is the Philadelphia Marathon.
Matt joined Teens Run Westchester upon moving to New Rochelle, so he could serve those within his new community. A fitness advocate, Matt is building towards his goal of completing a 10k. Matt loves to help others develop and achieve their goals, since he believes there are few better feelings than that of shared accomplishment. Matt works as an information technology consultant at PwC and is happy it affords him the opportunities to solve complex problems and travel throughout the country. He graduated with a BA in Criminal Justice and Political Science from the University of Delaware. In his free time, Matt enjoys hiking with his friends and girlfriend.
Katie Pfeifer joined the board and became a mentor in January of 2013. She has worked with three cohorts of runners, helping to guide them through the Rockwood Ramble 10k and the Westchester Running Festival Quarter Marathon. Katie is a runner at heart and has raced everything from the mile through the marathon, although her favorite distance is 10 miles. During the day, she is the Service Events Manager for Volunteer New York, an organization based in Tarrytown that connects people to volunteer opportunities. Katie coordinates community-wide and corporate days of service engaging hundreds of volunteers to take positive action in their communities. In addition to working with TRW, she is a SMART mentor with JCY-Westchester Community Partners where she works one-on-one with an elementary school student. Katie has a BA from Bucknell University and a Masters of Public Policy from The George Washington University. Favorite race: Broad Street 10 Miler (Philadelphia, PA)
Marie Lenart has served on the Teens Run Westchester Board since January 2013 when Teens Run Yonkers began the strategic expansion to provide services for Westchester County. She held a leadership role in developing the new programs as TRW: the Spring 2013 season with the Youth Shelter Program of Westchester, the Fall 2013 season with Westhab, and the Spring 2014 season with the Youth Shelter. She also served as a mentor for all three programs and felt a powerful sense of community through the camaraderie developed with the participants and mentor team during the training seasons. She is passionate about running and is motivated by how running events bring people together and have the ability to connect people, inspire people, and positively influence lives. She graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a concentration in Sport Management and looks forward to continuing to develop programs with TRW to empower underserved youth in Westchester County.
Elaina Vietz joined Teens Run Westchester in 2014 out of a love for running and a desire to see children succeed. She has run one full marathon, over half a dozen half marathons and many other races. She gets a rush of energy and a feeling of accomplishment from helping motivate others to achieve their personal best times in running or to finish a distance that they have never run before. Elaina works with M&T Bank where she contributes to the growth strategy and risk management of the commercial banking team in Hudson Valley South. She spends free time in her garden and enjoys quality visits with family and close friends
